Chris is an experienced master mariner, cable engineering consultant, marine warranty surveyor and company director. He is a founding partner of Penbridge Marine and of Red Penguin, leading specialists in the submarine cable industry over recent years.
During a 30 year career in the submarine cable industry, Chris has acquired a wealth of experience in a broad range of related disciplines both ashore and at sea. A master mariner with 10 years command and management experience of cable installation and maintenance operations with the perspective of diverse management roles in cable system design and planning, installation and maintenance. In recent years he has worked extensively with investors, developers and insurers of major subsea cable infrastructure projects and systems, providing a range of expert services, including marine warranty surveying services and marine HSE advisory and auditing . His diverse and comprehensive experience of maritime matters and of submarine cable projects across different industry sectors provides the basis for a fully informed perspective on cable development, installation and repair projects globally, and a solid foundation from which to advise clients on the control of risk.
Danny is an experienced Master Mariner, a former cable ship commander and DP master of dive support ships. He is an accomplished marine surveyor, consultant, offshore manager and client representative with extensive experience and knowledge of maritime issues as well as holding a Lloyds diploma for marine surveying.
Danny’s expertise in all aspects of marine operations and in particular cable installation and repair operations is built upon a 40 year career in the subsea cable industry. Danny also brings to Penbridge Marine his experience of operating as in-house Principal Mariner and a number of years in business.
Danny is an experienced marine surveyor including suitability, condition, club and warranty surveys on a range of vessels types.
Colin’s core experience is in marine construction and vessel operations specifically in the subsea power cables, renewable energy and oil & gas sectors. This expertise has been strengthened over the last 12-15 years with a diverse range of marine project management roles gaining valuable experience in project development, contract procurement, vessel and installation equipment selection, project wide installation strategies, all with a strong focus on offshore HSEQ and commercial performance. As a Master Mariner with experience of command on a variety of surface and subsea construction vessels, he has a strong background in the management of health, safety and environmental matters in the marine environment.
Colin has particular experience in developing integrated safety management systems and is also experienced in carrying out due diligence exercises having scrutinised the commercial and financial aspects of a number of marine projects for developers, investors and underwriters and utilises his broad experience
Richard brings his experience of more than 35 years of continuous involvement in the engineering and management of submarine cable installations and repairs,the past fifteen years as a consultant retained by underwriters in the Lloyd’s of London marine market and appointed warranty surveyor under policy conditions for submarine cables. Until 1996, the General Manager of the Installation Department of STC Submarine Systems (now part of Alcatel Lucent Submarine Networks) the worldwide market leader for the supply of submarine cable systems. Previous to this, managed the operations of the cable-ship Giulio Verne, was an independent consultant for power cable installations and repairs, employed in the BICC cable group for the installation and repair of their submarine cable products.
Richard’s somewhat unique combination of studies in economics, English law and the marine insurance market together with his engineering knowledge and cable sector experience provide a solid foundation from which to advise Penbridge Marine’s activities and team.
